Horse Racing Tips: Timeform’s three best bets at Sandown

Timeform provide their three best bets at Sandown on Wednesday…

“…he left the impression that he was ready for a step up in grade there…”

Timeform on Montatham

Summit Fever – 14:15 Sandown

Summit Fever showed marked improvement on his first three starts, culminating in a good win in a maiden at Lingfield last month. He opened his account with a bit in hand on that occasion – and the form looks solid – and he shaped as though still in form on handicap debut at Chelmsford last time, left poorly placed after having the worst of the draw. Summit Fever is well worth another chance to prove himself well handicapped.

Montatham – 15:55 Sandown

Montatham is enjoying a tremendous season, his only loss coming in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot when drawn on the wrong side, but that form has worked out well and he was only beaten one and a quarter lengths in second. He also won a very competitive handicap at York last time, another race that is working out well, and he left the impression that he was ready for a step up in grade there. This looks competitive, but Montatham is upwardly mobile, and looks ready to make his mark at this level.

Dublin Pharaoh – 17:00 Sandown

Dublin Pharaoh is a well-bred sort who showed much improved form when opening his account at Lingfield in February, and shaped well on his first start for seven months at Newmarket last time. That was also his turf debut, but he proved effective on it, and left the impression he would be better at a mile and a quarter on his next start. He has been dropped 1 lb in the weights for that run, and he remains on an exploitable mark.
