Timeform pick out their three best bets from Belmont on Saturday evening…
“… he’s likely to prove too hot to handle once again.”
Timeform on Spectrolite
Doll – Belmont R8, 22:18 BST
Doll made a solid start to her career when finishing third over half a furlong shorter at Aqueduct last month. She caught the eye with her fast break that day, and with that experience now under her belt, she can prove too streetwise for her opponents here. Tossup has finished second on each of her two starts so far and is feared, ahead of Bank Examiner.
Pole Setter – Belmont R9, 22:51 BST
Pole Setter was a tenacious winner from the front at Keeneland last month, and provided he can reproduce that form no switched back to turf, he’s fancied to prove a tough nut to crack from the front again here. Mucho and Uncapped head the dangers.
Spectrolite – Belmont R10, 23:24 BST
Spectrolite is a fragile type, but when he does make the track he’s been prolific, winning five of his last seven starts. The most recent of those wins came at Aqueduct on his most recent outing last month, when dominating from the front, and while the presence of the front-running Battle Station means he won’t get absolutely everything his own way this time around, he’s likely to prove too hot to handle once again. Final Frontier rates as the big danger, particularly if they go off too hard in front.
