Through The Card: Haydock, Saturday 21 July

Timeform take you through the card at Haydock on Saturday…

“…with that proving to be strong form, the first and second that day have both won since, he makes plenty of appeal.”

Timeform on Rampant Lion

18:00 – RAMPANT LION (3) has been given more time since his fourth at Beverley and with that proving to be strong form, the first and second that day have both won since, he makes plenty of appeal. Glorious Player could be the one for the forecast with his mark continuing to slide.

18:30 – A useful juvenile event that can go to LINE OF DUTY (4), who would have probably won with more luck on debut at Sandown, having to wait for a gap at a crucial time, and is open to a good deal of improvement. The previous winners Great Scot and Water Diviner are obvious players again.

19:00 – Having been gelded, SALSABEEL (2) impressed with the manner in which he dealt with a big field at Meydan earlier in the year, quickening through the field and pulling out more when tackled. He can continue the good work back on these shores. Unforgetable Filly may emerge best of the opposition.

19:30 – LAQAB (4) shaped much better than the bare result on first start for his new yard at Pontefract in May, and looks one to be interested in, especially now back up in trip. Savannah Moon hasn’t had much luck recently so isn’t one to be giving up on just yet, while Maroc certainly has a handicap in him from this sort of mark for all he is a long-standing maiden.

20:00 – THISTIMENEXTYEAR (1) is the least exposed in the field and looked ahead of his mark when second at Nottingham in the spring so, now returned to that trip, he’s taken to go one better for shrewd connections. Paddy A and Ingleby Hollow could hardly arrive in better form and also make plenty of appeal in a race that looks competitive for the numbers.

20:30 – BOUNDARY LANE (2) is less exposed than her rivals here and looks on a decent mark for her first crack at handicapping. She is taken to land the finale. Broadhaven Honey and Flying Foxy look the most likely dangers.
