Ryan Moore: The views on my Thursday rides at the St Leger Festival

14:25 Doncaster – Sizzling

She clearly has to improve to have a winning chance in this Group 2, but of course it is possible. She looks to be progressing with experience, which is the hallmark of Aidan’s juveniles, and she showed she can handle soft ground when winning at Tipperary last time. That was just a maiden and the runner-up was well beaten at the weekend, but hopefully there is more to come from this Galileo filly and the 1m trip on this track will suit her well.

Clearly, Nyaleti is the filly to beat if able to reproduce her 6f form at this longer trip on softer ground – she was very impressive for me with a bit of cut at Ascot – but there are obviously a few other promising sorts in here, too.

15:00 Doncaster – Dubka

I think it is clear that the key to this filly is soft ground, which she will get here. Yes, she has form on a faster surface but she is a different proposition when getting her conditions. The drying ground went against her in the Ebor last time but she showed she is a proper Group filly when second to the Vermeille winner Bateel at Haydock earlier in the season and when runner-up at Goodwood last month, when we were just done on the line by a closer.

She is a soft-ground course winner and you have to give her every chance, for all that this is a close-knit race on official ratings. I just hope that the York run didn’t take the edge off her, though.

15:35 Doncaster – Medal Of Honour

He looks to have a fair bit to find form-wise but he looks to have a progressive profile. He ran subsequent winner Warm The Voice to a head at the Curragh and makes a quick reappearance after finishing sixth in a Group 3 at Leopardstown on Saturday. Hopefully the step down in trip on soft ground won’t be a problem, but he does need to come forward again to be competitive here.

16:05 Doncaster – Dark Red

He has run three very solid races of late, getting chucked out after causing interference at Goodwood, and then finishing third off a 4lb higher mark at York last time. He has been left alone for that run, he acts on good and soft ground alike, and this is his trip.
